Employment Law

Designing employment relationships in a legally compliant way. Steering change with confidence.

Employment law issues are among the most sensitive and complex matters in corporate practice. They are characterised by a close interaction between individual and collective employment law, social security and tax law, EU legal frameworks, as well as increasing requirements relating to compliance, data protection, and employee participation. At the same time, companies are facing profound transformations – for example due to restructuring, business transfers, internationalisation, or new working and compensation models.

We provide comprehensive advice to national and international companies on employment and social security law, including related payroll tax matters. Our services range from traditional individual employment contract law to works agreement and collective bargaining law, working time and occupational safety law, employment data protection law, occupational pension schemes, as well as public sector and medical employment law. A particular focus lies on employment law support in company formations, restructuring, downsising, as well as the closure or relocation of operations. Business transfers – including cross-border transactions – are a regular focus of our work.

Today, employment law is often heavily influenced by EU law. We advise our clients extensively on employment law matters with an EU law dimension, for example in connection with employee postings, freedom of movement of workers, or the Act to Combat Wage and Social Dumping. In doing so, we ensure both non-discriminatory drafting of employment agreements and the legally compliant structuring of atypical employment models. Naturally, we also represent our clients in administrative and court proceedings, as well as in enforcing or defending employment-related claims at both national and European level.

Another focus lies on supporting internal investigations into possible misconduct by employees or executives. In this context, we regularly work together with forensic experts and provide both preventive advice and assistance in specific cases. In addition, we support our clients in negotiations with works councils, in drafting and adapting works agreements, collective bargaining agreements, and social plans, as well as in complex matters of co-determination and board appointments.
